JOY

The air at this time tastes less bitter and more sweet.

Despite the shorter days, darker nights, and fallen leaves.

We rejoice until they return again in the spring

And replace the green, yellow, and red trees

With bright lights that blind us with joy from street to street.

We thank the cold for forcing us together indoors

Because time is loyal to no man as the soul may have to return

And so - in the body bells are ringing from the warm air we breathe during the coldest nights

Because the warm spirit comes not from the clothes, money, or toys

But from this sweet embrace as we realize this authentic human experience brings us the most joy
